10 reasons to get your Weekly Fig

Why join Weekly Fig? Everyone has a reason behind their food choices . Here are 10 compelling reasons on why to choose Weekly Fig for local organic groceries:

  1. Support local. We have a wealth of local farmers and artisans around Chattanooga.. A study funded by Gaining Ground said, “If Chattanoogans just spent 5% of their food budget on local food, we would increase the local economy by $100 million!” That’s one meal per week.
  2. Trusted sources. We cannot trust food labels these days. Weekly Fig has vetted and visited all farmers to verify they have organic and sustainable practices for produce, meats and dairy products. We have a non-GMO policy.  Produce is chemical free. Animals are raised on pasture enjoying sunshine, fresh air, and a natural diet .
  3. Produce picked at peak. Most grocery store produce come from miles away or out of the country. It is picked early,  gassed so it can ripen in due time to sit on shelves.  Our produce is delivered to you no later than 48 hours from being picked at the peak of ripeness. It doesn’t get much fresher than that.
  4. More nutritious, better flavor.  Eating produce picked at  ripeness is more nutritious and bursts of flavor.
  5. Automate healthy eating. Getting your Weekly Fig delivered to your front door will automate healthy eating. By helping you keep your fridge and pantry stocked you are more likely to make healthy choices.
  6. Remove impulse purchases. Avoiding the grocery store when possible will help you avoid the impulse purchases that you often regret.
  7. Meal Planning. Your Weekly Fig box of produce will have an accompanying suggested meal plan. Are you ready to quit spending hours on Pinterest trying to figure out what to cook? We just gave you back at least 5 hours of your life to do something else.
  8. Convenient: home delivery…need I say more?
  9. Lead by Example. By shopping for local foods and serving them to your friends, you are opening doors to conversations about sustainable agriculture. It’s a great way to teach them about why it is important to you to be conscious of your health, the earth and farm-dependent communities and how this carries over into purchasing food with a purpose.
  10. Carbon Footprint. The environmental question of where you food comes from is bigger than its “carbon footprint.” By buying foods grown and raised closer to where you live, you help maintain farmland and green space in your area.
